Introduction to Athletics
When she was 9 or 10 years old Stacey’s father (who played a lot of sport) asked her to go on a run and she found that she could run faster then him! He then persuaded her after more then a year to go to Tynedale athletics club and started to coach her while working towards his coaching qualifications. She started to train more seriously at the age of 12 or 13. She was also inspired when she saw Cathy Freeman winning the 400m at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in that catsuit!
