Performances in 2010
Ricky had a great start to the year, winning the 4km race at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country on 9 January and then setting a personal best for the mile of 3:56.31 at the New Balance Games in New York on 23 January which places him seventh on the UK all-time indoor list for the distance. On 14 March he won the BUCS Indoor 3000m title for the third year in a row. He improved his 1500m best to 3:40.31 in Oslo on 4 June and reached the final at the Aviva UK Championships on 25-27 June. He won the bronze medal over 1500m at the England Athletics Senior Championships on 18 July. At the end of the year he finished ninth in the Under 23 race at the European Cross Country Championships.

Performances in 2009
Ricky smashed his personal best for 3000m when running 8:01.56 to win the BUCS Indoor title on 15 March. Outdoors he has improved his 1500m best to 3:40.40 and his 800m best to 1:49.09 and won the silver medal in the 1500m at the Aviva England Under 23 Championships. At the European Athletics Under 23 Championships he finished fifth in the 1500m final. In December he finished eighth at the European Under 23 Cross Country Championships.

Ricky has set personal bests for 400m, 800m and 1500m so far this season. In the winter he won gold in the indoor 3000m at the British University Championships. He reached the 1500m final at the Aviva National Championships where he finished seventh in 3:43.18.
